Dear Friend,

As the mother of four wonderful and very strong and unique individuals, I honestly feel that everything I’ve needed to learn has been offered to me through a lesson in parenting. This is the place I approach my parenting experience from. I have encountered this journey from many different perspectives: married, single, working, stay at home, blended family… I get family dynamics and the importance of honoring their uniqueness.

Throughout my 24 years of parenting I’ve passed through many phases, feelings and stages of my own development. Upon reflection I realize that many of my feelings were misguided, unnecessary and hindering to myself as well as my children. Like most parents, I was fiercely committed to doing my best, but I often questioned that I knew what that was. Raising four children and working in a demanding career had me living in survival mode, reacting to my life rather than designing it. “Winging it” had little romantic appeal from this angle. Eventually, as we were facing some pretty tough issues in the teen years, even “survival mode” seemed overly optimistic. As my world began turning upside down, I was finally forced to evaluate the real problem – I had shifted so far from my center I had absolutely nothing to anchor to. I was in total reactive mode, living in chaos, and constantly “searching” for a right answer.

It was from this place that I was challenged to redefine myself—down to my core—authentically and according to my own values and beliefs. The clarity, strength and freedom that came from this process were indescribable. I was able to withdraw from the parenting “comparathon” and begin designing my life and my parenting experience to fit my authentic needs and those of my children. I began looking within, and learning to trust in myself to have the best answers for myself and my family. This felt right and solid. My life and my home environment began to unfold in a much more joyful, fulfilling and authentic way. I eventually left my career in the corporate world to pursue a passion in coaching. Supporting mothers to enhance their lives and the lives of their children evolved naturally out of my own experiences, and I am absolutely passionate about and committed to assisting in this process.

Journey Well,

Chris
